Angeline Swantner, 83
STRUTHERS - A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc., for Angeline Swantner, 83, who passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Angeline was born on July 13, 1931, in Hubbard, daughter of the late Angelo and Rose Carbone.
She was a former member at the Christ our Savior Parish, Holy Trinity Church, where she and her husband were very active. Angeline enjoyed cooking, especially her special spaghetti and meatballs, and she planted her own garden and did her own canning. She worked as a seamstress and also installed wallpaper.
Angeline is survived by her three sons, Joseph Swantner of Struthers, Christopher Swantner of Macon, Ga., James (Patty) Swantner of Michigan; her daughter, Deborah (Donald) Smith of Boardman; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, to whom she was known as “Bitsy Grandma”; and her pet dog, Minnie.
In addition to her parents, Angeline was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Swantner Sr., whom she married Feb. 18, 1950, who died Aug. 27, 1977; four sons, Paul, Robert Jr., Richard, and Philip; her grandson, Donald R. Smith; and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Swantner.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc., 258 Poland Ave. in Struthers.
Burial will take place at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
In place of flowers, the family requests monetary donations be made to the American Heart Association.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Elizabeth Heart Center.
