Joseph Pavlov, Jr., passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 as he lived his life, with his family and friends nearby. Joe is in heaven reconnecting with his beloved wife and many friends. Most likely he is making new friends! Joe was born on February 1, 1925 in Struthers, Ohio son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Brincko) Pavlov, Sr. He will be greatly missed by all those he touched and befriended over many years.His kindness and generosity has touched a multitude of people. Joe was a member of Infant Jesus of Prague Church. Joe worked as the Auto Body Manager at Donnell Ford and later was the owner and operator of Buckeye Body and Paint Supply until his business was sold to Sherwin Williams Automotive and continued to work until he retired at the age of 87. Joe's expertise in color matching will be greatly missed. Joe was a WWII US Navy Veteran serving on the USS Intrepid. For many years Joe would honor his fellow veterans by playing taps at their funerals, he played over 8500 services.
Joe is survived by his children, Joseph (Maya) Pavlov, John (Pat) Pavlov, Catherine Pavlov, George (Liz) Pavlov, Jennifer (Michael) Staaf and Helen Pavlov, nine grandchildren, Gregory, Allison, Andrew, Kata, Natalie, Catherine, Caroline, Madeline and Indigo and his three great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Evelyn and Nathaniel, his former daughter in law, Karen Pavlov and many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends and business acquaintances. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Helen K. (Simonoff) whom he married on April 25, 1953, she died on May 17, 2015 and two sisters, Irene Oshelski and Mary Hayer.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., 258 Poland Avenue in Struthers. There will be a Parastas service on Friday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. On Saturday, May 21, 2016 there will be a Panachida service at 9:15 am at Kirila Funeral Home,Inc, followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am at Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church, 7754 South Avenue in Boardman. Burial will take place in the St. John Cemetery. Military honors will be presented at the cemetery by the VFW Post 9571 Honor Guard of Ellsworth. .
In place of flowers the family would like contributions to be made to the naval ship Joe served on, the USS Intrepid.
