James E. Barone Sr., 88

STRUTHERS – A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ our Savior Parish, Holy Trinity Church, for James E. Barone Sr. 88, who passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Maplecrest Nursing Home.
Jim was born on Oct. 4, 1927, in Struthers, son of the late Domeneck and Lucille (Morell) Barone.
He was a 1949 graduate of Struthers High School, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of Christ our Savior Parish, Holy Trinity Church. He worked at Courtney-Harvey Ford, Gough Ford and several other Ford Dealerships in the area.
Jim was very active in the local community He bowled in the Pyramid League, golfed with the St. Anthony Golf League, where he achieved the accomplishment of a “hole in one,” and he coached many young boys in the Struthers Baseball League on to championships as the coach for the Record Shop.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Wilaj) Barone, whom he married Aug. 11, 1951; his children, Diane Barone, Debi and Doug Posey, Tim Barone, and Cindi Barone; his daughter-in-law, Sandi Barone; a sister, Norma Altiero; and his grandchildren, Eric and Jamie Barone, Nichole Barone, Kyle and Marc Posey, Jessica and Austin Barone, and Haley and Courtney Boyer.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, James Barone Jr.; his sisters, Dorothy Stankich and MaryLou Barone; and his in-laws, Helen and Steve Wilaj.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc., 258 Poland Ave. in Struthers.
Burial will take place at the St. John Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maplecrest Nursing Home for their outstanding care and love they showed to James.
