William M. Petko, 64 passed away on January 10, 2021, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman. Bill was born on July 18, 1956, in Youngstown son of the late William and Gertrude (Stropich) Petko. He worked as a Police Officer for Poland Township and Beaver Township, then worked Security for Southside Hospital, Northside Hospital, and Trumbull Memorial Hospital, and for CCA Prison. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, a member of the Youngstown Crime Clinic, and the Buckeye Sheriffs Association. He was a member at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, St. Matthias Church, and an avid Ohio State Fan, but most important to him were his grandchildren that he was so proud of.
Bill is survived by his wife, Janine (Mika) Petko, whom he married on October 31, 1981, two daughters, Brittany (Mike Mogor) Petko, Heather (Dan) Brammer, his brother, Ronald (Margaret) Petko, and three grandchildren, John (JJ) Allaby, and Danny and Evelyn Brammer along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Wells.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 15, 2021, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Matthias Church followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, with Rev. John Jerek officiating. Burial will take place in the Calvary Cemetery.
Due to COVID-19, safety precautions will be taken. The 6-foot rule will be honored, and we kindly ask that all guests whose health allows, please wear a mask. For the health and safety of everyone, we ask that visitors do not linger after paying their respects unless if you are staying for the service.
