Scott Wells Obituary

Austintown - Scott M. Wells, 62, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at St. Elizabeth in Youngstown. He was born April 25, 1962 in Columbus, OH, son of William B. and Kay Wells.

Scott was a graduate of Leonard Kirtz.  After graduating, Scott, also known as Scotty, quickly became involved in the community.  He worked at Bev Road and then Meshel Masco workshops where he enjoyed doing piecework.  He was a part of Special Olympics basketball and bowling. He took great pride in his position of statistician for basketball. Scott lived at Gateways For A Better Living for many years.  He then moved to RaeArc Industries and attended The Carousel Center day program for the past 16 years where he made life long friends.Scott was Harley Davidson's biggest fan.  His entire room was covered in Harley Davidson.  He loved to ride with Ronnie (guardian) on his purple Harley.  They would take trips to get ice cream and even to other states on the motorcycle.  If you knew Scott, you knew about his love for motorcycles.  He would wave at every one he saw.

Scott would do a Donald Duck impression so well that if you did not know it was him, you would think you were watching the cartoon.  He would say "I missed you" to everyone he talked to.  He gave the best hugs and handshakes.  Scott knew martial arts and would always show off his moves.  He enjoyed listening to music, especially ABBA and Backstreet Boys.  He would start dancing anywhere he heard music playing; the store, the car, at home.  He also loved watching wrestling.  He met many professional wrestlers from the WWE and his favorite was John Cena.  Scotty's favorite foods were mashed potatoes, spaghetti, strawberry ice cream and pop.  If you asked him what kind of pop he wanted, he would always respond with "any kind".  Scott would often talk about his niece Jennifer.  He would call her on the phone and tell her she was his favorite niece.

Scotty was known and loved by everyone.  There aren't too many people in the community who didn't know him.  Everyone who knows him has their own special memory of him.

Once Scott moved with RaeArc Industries, he lived with his guardian Ronald Nickell, Ronald's wife Rae and Russell Bennett.  Scotty and Russell were the best of friends and enjoyed going to church together, bowling and working on the farm together.

Four years ago Scotty moved in with caregiver Fallon Murray and her family.  They quickly became family to him.  They enjoyed going on vacations, attending sporting events, swimming and family dinners.  Scott's favorite thing to do these last couple years was watch TV with Mike, eat ice cream together and patiently wait for the Burger King commercial to come on.   Scotty had a special bond with Fallon's son Michael and would blame him for everything just to get him in trouble.

Memories of Scott will be cherished and kept by his niece Jennifer (James LaGrand) Wells, guardian Ronald (Rae) Nickell, caregivers Fallon Murray and Michael Romane Jr, their son Michael Romane III, Dylan Fox and his entire RaeArc family.

Scott is preceded in by his father, mother and brother Steven Wells.

A private Celebration of life will be held.
