Richard A. (Rick) Ahlquist, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a long illness. He was born on August 28, 1951 in Youngstown, Ohio, to Anton and Isabel (Anthony) Ahlquist.
Rick graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1969. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1971 to 1975 and belonged to the American Legion. He retired from MIP, Inc. in 2020. Throughout his life, Rick drove truck and did factory work. Wherever Rick worked, he had a wonderful work ethic and was a valuable employee. He was Protestant and lived his faith daily by helping anyone who needed anything.
He loved to play with his grandchildren and they will never forget the claw, papa jail, blastoff, couch testing, and missile slippers. He was an avid Browns, Buckeyes and Yankees fan. He loved Geneva vacations with his family and friends.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Nancy (Williams) Ahlquist, whom he married on July 8, 1972, sons Jeremy (Angela) of St. Petersburg, FL, and Christopher of Youngstown, and his daughter, Amy (Brian) Schlosser of Struthers, his grandchildren, Olivia, Hannah, Gabriel, Nathaniel, Ethan, Aaron, Alyssa, Abigail Ahlquist and Gage, Greyson, and Gehrig Schlosser. He also leaves behind his sister, Natalie Ahlquist Beil and his close friend Jim Mussler, who watched sports with him for 50 years.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by, his brother Edward, his brother-in-law, and best friend Dave Beil.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday August 20, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Kirila Funeral Home, 258 Poland Ave. Struthers, Ohio 44471 and, on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a service to follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
