Nicholas Drahush, 96
STRUTHERS – A Divine Liturgy will be held at noon on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown for Nicholas Drahush, 96, who died on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at the Assumption Village in North Lima.
Nicholas was born in Youngstown, son of the late Wasyl and Mary Drahush.
He was a graduate of South High School, a member at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II, and retired in 1985 from Sparkle Market where he worked as a meat cutter. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Nicholas is survived by his two children, Anna Marie (Jack) Vaughn and Michael (Dana) Drahush; his grandchildren, Dr. Nicholas (Baillie) Drahush and Matthew (Valerie Treat, fiance) Drahush; along with his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Drahush and Katherine Drahush.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tekla (Cebak) Drahush, whom he married on July 17, 1948, she died on June 22, 1995; two brothers, John and Michael Drahush; and a sister, Anne Balog.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery.
On Monday, family and friends can go directly to the church for the noon service.
In place of flowers, donations can be made to Angels for Animals or the Holy Trinity Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at Assumption Village for their care and compassion given to Nicholas during his stay.
