Nancy A. (Zaluski) Hermez

Nancy A. Hermez, 63, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital. Nancy was born on April 16, 1956, in Struthers, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Mary (Hrelec) Zaluski, wife to Ed Hermez, mother to three children, and grandmother to four grandchildren. Nancy devoted her life to supporting and loving her family. She was happiest with freshly painted nails, perfectly curled hair and a full house crowded around her dining table. Nancy will be well remembered for her wedding soup, baking peanut butter blossoms with her children and grandchildren, and showing her love by accommodating everyone's particular tastes in the kitchen. Nancy worked as a hairdresser for over 30 years, 20 of which were at J.C. Penney, a baker at Panera Bread and IGA, and most recently a receptionist at Sweeney Buick. She was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church in Struthers and the Croatian Fraternal Union, where she served as a Trustee. 

Nancy is survived by her husband Ed whom she married on May 9, 1981, three children Edward (Crystal) Hermez, Nicholas (Melissa) Hermez, and Leann Hermez, two sisters, Charlotte (Keith) Jennings, Kathy Pascarella, and four grandchildren, Owen, Jaxton, Norah, and Easton. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., 258 Poland Avenue in Struthers. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am on Saturday for the church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. 

Monetary donations can be made in Nancy’s name to Saint Nicholas Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. 

The family wishes to thank all the medical personnel, caretakers, family, and friends who helped Nancy with her courageous fight with cancer these past four years.
