YOUNGSTOWN - Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at
11 a.m. at Drakes Landing in Canfield for Mary M. Midge Scharrer, 85, who passed away on Sept. 27, 2014, at her home.
Midge was born on May 5, 1929, in Brookville, Pa., daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Cyphert) Bortz.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed going to garage sales, flea markets, visiting Amish country, cooking, and spending time with her family, and beloved dog, JJ.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond E. Scharrer Sr.; two sons, Jim
(Ashley) Blair of Missouri and Raymond E. (Terry) Scharrer Jr. of Youngstown; three daughters, Heidi (Tim) Keene of Golden, Colo., Helen
(James) Gray of Westminster, Colo., and Barbie Leyshon of Bennett, Colo.; her sister-in-law and best friend, Ruth Bortz of Prospect, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Midge was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Bugos and two brothers, Ralph Bortz and John Bortz.
Midge was known for her love of children and helping anyone in need. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Hazel and her family for all their friendship and love.
