Louise Macabobby Obituary

Louise Macabobby,  98,  passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025.  She was born on October 21, 1927, in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Joseph and Helen (Patykowski) Gabrielcik. She spent most of her life in Youngstown, Ohio, where she built a home filled with love, tradition, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Louise enjoyed a long and successful career as a Registered Nurse, dedicating her life to the care and healing of others. She worked as a surgical nurse at Duquesne Hospital in Pennsylvania, Cafaro and Northside Hospital in Youngstown, and as an industrial nurse with U.S. Steel. She later served as Supervisor of the Surgical Department and Assistant Director of Nursing at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital, where she retired after earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike. After retiring from nursing, Louise continued to share her talents in new fields. She served as Controller for Aeriss Incorporated in North Lima, Ohio and for The Winner in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, where she also participated in numerous fashion shows as a model- embracing each experience with elegance and joy.

A woman of many talents and remarkable creativity, Louise enjoyed golf and had a keen eye for beauty. She created ceramics, porcelain dolls, and hand-painted china-pieces that remain cherished by her family. She was a member of the Ohio Nurses Association, the Red Hat Society, and actively participated in numerous church organizations at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell and Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church in Boardman.

Louise was also an extraordinary baker, known for her kolachi and her famous “birthday cake.” her treasured cookbook-filled with her handwritten notes and perfected recipes-remains a beloved family heirloom.

She is survived by her loving siblings, Joan Becker (Tom) and William Gabriel; her children, Cheryl Lambros (Jim), Edward Macabobby Jr. (Beth), and Christy Lyras; and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were her greatest joys.

Affectionately known as Bubba, Louise was the cherished grandmother of Kristie Lee Remish (Joe), Heather Warrick, Jason Macabobby (Carla Garcia), Josh Macabobby (Allison), Jeffrey Macabobby (Allison), Tara Bunyoff, Sozon Lyras (Mina Amini), and Sarah Brodman (Josh). Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Joseph Remish III, Michael Remish, Kaitlin Remish, Kaleb Macabobby, Taylor Macabobby, Baylynn Bunyoff, Alexandra Brodman, and Amelia Brodman.

Along with her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband,  Ed Macabobby Sr., whom she married on August 29, 1949; her brothers, Joseph Gabrielcik Jr. and David Gabrielcik; her sister, Dorothy Sikora (Ed); and her grandson Donnie Warrick Jr. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her long and blessed life.

A Memorial Devine Liturgy will be held on November 21, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell, Ohio with the Very Reverend Father Kevin E. Marks officiating.

Remembered for her kindness, resilience, artistic spirit, and the warmth she brought to every gathering, Louise touched every generation of her family with her steady love and gentle wisdom. Her presence was a blessing, and her memory will be forever cherished.
