A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 21, 2014 at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church in Boardman at 11am for Joseph M. Passek age 93 who died on Sunday July 13, 2014 at Assumption Village. He was born September 23, 1920 in Campbell, Ohio a son of the late Joseph and Eva (Pokoj) Passek.
He served in the US Army during WW II. He was a member of St. Luke Church. He worked as a Driver and Salesman for Continental Baking Company for over 30 years. He loved playing golf and played in many leagues at Knoll Run (Countryside) Golf Course. His favorite sports team was the New York Yankees. Joe's grandchildren were very special to him and he enjoyed following them growing and developing through life and athletics. He also enjoyed visiting his neighbors.
Joseph is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Tom) Walker of New Waterford, Doreen Nittoli of Boardman, a sister Wanda Passek of North Lima, two grandchildren Michelle Walker of Grove City, Ohio and Eric Huffman of Boardman.
He also leaves “adopted” granddaughters Traci Kalafut and Kris Sullivan; as well as niece Sherry Swanson and nephews Tom Block and Steven Horney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Gnipp) Passek, who died September 25, 1972 and three sisters, Olga Shamrock, Jean Roberts and Amy Passek.
Visitation will be held Monday July 21, 2014 one hour prior to the Mass from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, 5235 South Avenue in Boardman, Ohio.
Burial will take place in the St. John Cemetery in Coitsville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Assumption Village for the support and care given to their father. The family would also like to thank Joe’s neighbors for all of their care and support that they extended to Joe over the years.
