Campbell, Helen Victoria Nester, 92
Helen Victoria Nester passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at home, on December 20, 2020. Helen was born February 6, 1928, in Campbell, the daughter of Wasyl and Sophia Kot Kondrat, and was a life long resident of Campbell. She graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1946. Helen worked at the YMCA and attended Paramount Beauty School on Federal Street in Youngstown, Ohio.
Helen became a state-certified cosmetologist in 1947 and worked as a beautician until marrying her husband, Edward Nester on September 22, 1948. Starting their family, Helen and Ed had two daughters, Karen Van Dyke(d) and Georgia Rosemond. Ed and Helen were able to celebrate their 70th anniversary together.
Helen was a member of Christ of the Good Shephard Parish at Saint Joseph's the Provider Church in Campbell. She loved to cook traditional Polish recipes. Her borscht, stuffed cabbage, and pierogi were family favorites. Helen liked to play bingo, the lottery, and to say she enjoyed the casinos was an understatement.
She loved taking casino bus trips to play the slot machines with her friends and husband, Eddy. In her golden years, there were many trips to Mountaineer.
She enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Steelers and talking about "the politics" with her grandson, Robert.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents Wasyl & Sophia, husband Edward, daughter Karen, sisters Grace & Mary Kondrat, Peggy Cegledy, and brothers William, Teddy, and John Kondrat.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Georgia Rosemand, Brisbane, AU, grandchildren, Robert Liptak of Campbell and Rebecca Flotta of Pittsburgh PA, Jackie Liptak of Las Vegas, NV, Emily Rosemond of Brisbane, AU, Cassie Bookham of Brisbane, AU, nieces Jeannie Kurrle of North Attleboro, MA, Peggy Razum of Bluffton, SC, nephews Ronnie(d) & Billy Kondrat, and many cousins.
The family would like to thank the neighbors around Memorial Circle (Sissy & Steve, Joe, Lucille, and Theresa) who helped Helen and Ed on so many occasions during their golden years along with Comfort Keepers (Michelle & MaKenna). They would also like to thank friends Gloria, Barb, Jane, Bruce, and especially Cheryl, who helped with everything from doctor appointments to running errands to getting Helen those precious instant lottery tickets. And finally, everyone else that the family was not able to list. We are blessed to have you in our lives.
Helen was devoted, caring for the entire family looking after her brothers, sisters, nieces & nephews, and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
