Gregory K. Davern

Struthers - Gregory K. Davern, 37, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Saint Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 14, 1987, son of Gregory D. Davern and Jacqueline Franke.

He graduated from Struthers High School in 2005 where he played football for four years. After high school, he attended Youngstown State University and obtained a degree in criminal justice that he used to secure a career as a correction officer at the Federal Correctional Institute Elkton.

He enjoyed watching sports on TV (the Las Vegas Raiders and the Los Angeles Lakers). Another favorite pastime was coaching football for the Struthers HardHats and riding his side-by-side all around town. His best characteristics was making jokes and making everyone feel loved. If you knew Greg, he greeted everyone with a smile and sarcasm and made everybody laugh?

He is survived by his father, Greg D. Davern, mother, Jacqueline Franke, sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo Caroline (Rasheen) Moore, nephews, Chase, RJ , Ariella and brother Michael P. Jenkins and family, a long list of loving aunts, uncles, many cousins and those he made family.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Kirila Funeral Home, 258 Poland Ave., Struthers, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. and we will hold a lunch afterwards.  In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family, or sent to Kirila funeral home.
