Edward Ciszewski, 87, of Poland Ohio, passed away suddenly on Sunday March 6, 2016.
Edward was born in Youngstown on May 13, 1928, son of the late Felix and Agnes (Garbacz) Ciszewski and the last surviving member of the family that included brothers Steve, Felix and Mike Ciszewski, Edwin Clark, and sisters, Anna Velichko, Jen Payer and Mary Arnold.
He graduated from Struthers High School, was a member of Holy Family Parish and was employed at General Fireproofing for 46 years as a press operator and Supervisor in the Press Room. He was also employed as the Mahoning County Apiarist (Bee Inspector) for over 35 years.
During his lifetime, Edward enjoyed dancing and listening to polka music. He was an avid gardener whose pride and joy were his blueberries, vegetable garden and numerous flowers species. As a nature lover, Edward spent much of his free time building bird houses and tending to the many birds that kept him entertained.
He was highly regarded in the family, always available to pitch in on home construction projects and godfather too many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed reading and keeping up on current issues and solving jumbo crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his five sons, Edward J. (Kathy) Ciszewski of Highland Heights, OH, John T. (Laura) Ciszewski of Willoughby Hills, OH, Walter C. (Jane) Ciszewski of Franklin, WI, James J. Ciszewski of Howland, OH, Gregory M. Ciszewski of Groton, CT, along with seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Scott, Monica, David, Claire and Brian.
In addition to his parents, brothers and sisters, Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda J. (Zak) Ciszewski whom he married on May 15, 1954. She died on July 23, 2003.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, March 11, 2016, 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm with a Blessing Service after visitation hours at the Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., 258 Poland Avenue in Struthers. Burial to take place at St. John Cemetery.
