Cheryl Lee (Holcomb) Updegraff, 70, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born in Youngstown on July 24, 1953, to the late William and Martha (Washington) Holcomb, she was the youngest of six (four boys, and two girls). A graduate from The Rayen School in 1971. She retired from IGA after over 40 years in customer service. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving as a Greeter, counter, cook, and anything else the Lord asked of her.
Her love for her grandchildren was boundless. She enjoyed attending baseball, softball, and football games, cheer and dance competitions, singing along during choir concerts, and feeding them chips and dip. One of her favorite activities to do with her grandchildren during the Holiday season was to go to Easy Street Production, a sing-along celebration of the Holidays.
A daredevil at heart, her faith in God and love for her family gave her the ability to lead, love, and support her family through times of trial with wisdom and grace.
She is survived by her loving husband, James whom she married on December 27, 1974, two sons James III, Shaun, and wife Amanda, daughter Holly, and husband Steve, five granddaughters, Kayla, Tesla, Remi, Cammie, Gracie, one grandson, Shaun Jr., and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Octavia.
A Memorial Service will be held on held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road in Youngstown. Pastor Duane Jesse will officiate the service.
