Charles T. Petrunak

Charles Thomas “Chas” Petrunak, 68, of Struthers, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He was born September 13, 1957, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Charles and Florence (Bielawski) Petrunak. He was a lifelong resident of Struthers.

Chas was a graduate of Struthers High School and later worked for Struthers City Schools, retiring in 2025.

Chas was a man who walked his own path, living life on his own terms and never bending to trends or outside opinions. Exceptionally well-read, he had an answer for nearly any question across a wide range of topics—and if he didn’t, he made it a point to find out. A devoted fan of rock music, he especially cherished the Beatles and Bob Dylan, celebrating their artistry throughout his life. He was also an avid Ohio sports enthusiast, following all Cleveland teams and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all, his greatest passion was the Cleveland Indians, whom he followed faithfully until the very end.

Chas is survived by his siblings, William and Amy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Allan.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., 258 Poland Avenue, Struthers, Ohio. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish, Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 250 North Bridge Street, Struthers.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery.
