Struthers,
Alexander J. Sepesy, 96, of Struthers, passed away on December 28, 2023, at the Heritage Manor in Youngstown. Alex was born on July 23, 1927, in Youngstown, the son of the late Sandor and Anna (Petrik) Sepesy. Alex graduated from Wilson High School. He was a member of Christ our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church. Alex served in the US Marine Corps, serving in the Tri-State Detachment in China and Burma.
Alex for over 50 years owned and operated Terrace Auto Body in Struthers. He was a member of The Independent Garage Owners of Ohio where he also served as their Chaplain. He taught at the Trumble & Mahoning County Vocational Schools. Alex was one of the original founders and a member of the Steel Valley Harmonica Club. He and His wife Theresa played their harmonica’s and were known as “The Harmonica Gypsy’s” They played for many Veterans hospitals, nursing homes and St. Johns Villa where they donated harmonicas to the special needs children. He also played on various bowling leagues with his brothers. Alex and his family enjoyed many years of fishing and camping at their trailer at Pymatuning Lake
Alex is survived by his children, Raymond (Diane) Sepesy of Mooresville, NC, Alexia (Gene) Magazzine, in New Springfield, David (Shirley) Sepesy, Robert (Davita) Sepesy, and Michael Sepesy, all of Struthers, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Patricia Kachmer, and brother-in-law John Saupp along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa (Rudy) Sepesy, whom he married on February 26, 1949, she died on December 12, 2016, and three brothers, Stephen, Frank, and Richard Sepesy, and his granddaughter, Sarah (Sepesy) Slovinsky.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., 258 Poland Avenue in Struthers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 10:30 am at the St. Nicholas Church, in Struthers, with Rev. Philip Rogers, officiating. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church.
In place of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Care Hospice and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the VA Clinic, Southern Care Hospice, and the Heritage Manor for all of the loving care they gave to our father, Alex.
