Albert V. Caparso

Albert Vincent “Al” Caparso, 89, of Lowellville, passed away late in the evening on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Westlake, Ohio.  Albert was born on August 6, 1935, in Struthers, Ohio.  The son of the late Frank and Lucia (nee Pompeo) Caparso, Al was a longtime Resident of the area for most of his life.  
Al began his professional career as a general contractor, followed by many years as a beloved educator in the Industrial Arts at Woodrow Wilson and Chaney High School within the Youngstown City Schools.  He was a mentor to many and built lifelong relationships with his students.  
Prior to becoming an educator, Albert dutifully served his country for four years as an active member of the United States Army Corps. (Reserves).  While enlisted, Albert was proud to be a part of the 1958 Fort Bliss Falcon Football Team.  Private Second-Class Albert V. Caparso was honorably discharged from service on April 9, 1959.
Albert wed his late wife, Susan Marie “Sue” (nee Kriss) Caparso on July 19, 1974, and enjoyed 47 years together before Sue’s passing in 2021, and the two created a beautiful family with their four children.   Al was also a prominent member of the local Latin American Club and served as President of the organization.  Those that knew Al would describe him as a loyal husband, faithful provider and a strong father figure.  Al was a man of his word and a believer of the Catholic Faith.
Albert is survived by his sister, Gladys Klem; daughters Lucinda (Nick) Blanch, Alisa (Chad) Vossen and Angela (Andrew) Gordon and his son Anthony (Emily) Caparso.  Al was particularly fond of his nine surviving grandchildren: Nicholas and Cassandra Blanch, Olivia and Evelyn Vossen, Andrew, Alex and A.J. Gordon, and Anthony and Ava Caparso.  
Besides his parents and wife, Al was preceded in death by his brothers Carl and Emiddio Caparso and sisters Ann White, Delores DeMichele and Lilia Caparso.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kirila Funeral Home.  In respecting Albert’s wishes, a brief graveside ceremony and burial will be held on June 28, 2025, at 1:00pm at St. John the Baptist Cemetery located at 3900 Villa-Marie Road Lowellville, Ohio 44436.  The family kindly requests no flowers.
