Mary (Koval) Popovich, 100
BOARDMAN – A private funeral service was held at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church for Mary (Koval) Popovich, 100, formerly of Struthers, who died on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at Greenbriar Healthcare Center.
Mary was born on May 28, 1918, in Campbell, daughter of the late of John and Mary (Majernyk) Koval.
She was a member of Christ our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church. She enjoyed playing bingo. Mary was a hairdresser, she worked at Gray’s Drug Store and was the owner of House of Ceramics and worked until she was 90.
Mary is survived by her son, John (Marsha) Popovich of Boardman; her son in law, John Althouse of Canfield; four grandchildren, Alex (Amanda) Popovich of Stow, Stephanie Althouse of Canfield, Mary Nichol of Pittsburgh and Jeff Althouse of St. Cloud, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ava and Adria Popovich, all of Stow.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Popovich, whom she married on May 31, 1938, and he died, June 13, 1980; her daughter, Stephanie Althouse; brothers John and Albert Koval; and her sister, Wilma Mickler.
Burial was at St. John Cemetery.
