Mary Frances Lancy

POLAND – Mary Frances Lancy, 91, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Woodlands at Hampton Woods in Poland, Ohio.

            Mary was born on July 4, 1927 in Struthers, a daughter of John and Christina (Magyar) Mrofchak.  On June 18, 1949, she married the love of her life, John Lancy.  After building a home together in Struthers, they eventually built their home of 45 years in Poland Township.

            While leading a simple and quiet life, Mary enjoyed taking care of her family and her home.  Devoted to her husband, she also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

            Left to cherish her memories are her children, Lorraine Lancy of Poland, Jeffrey (Juliana) Lancy of Struthers, and Carole (Rick) Lauer of Elyria; grandchildren David Lancy, Courtney Lancy (James) Campana, Casey Lancy, Daniel Lancy, Cari (Joe) Dickens, and Eric Lauer; and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Dickens.  She also leaves a brother, Patrick Mrofchak of California.

            Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John (2017), her eldest son, Lawrence (2015), a stillborn son, Kenneth (1961), her granddaughter, Kelly Bailey (2017), her brothers, John Mrofchak and George Mrofchak and her sisters, Anna Mrofchak and Eleanor Uhrin.

            Family and friends may call on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 10:00 am until the mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am at Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church, 764 Fifth St, Struthers, with a luncheon celebrating Mary’s life to follow in the lower church.  Interment will be in Lake Park Cemetery.

            A very special “Thank You” to all the staff at Woodlands at Hampton Woods for their friendship and loving care of Mary during her time there.

            Memorial contributions can be made to the Woodlands at Hampton Woods activity fund, or mass intentions in Mary’s name at Christ Our Savior Parish.
