Struthers,
Louise L. Safarek, 94, passed away on Sunday September 16, 2018 at Sunrise of Poland. Louise was born in Youngstown, daughter of the late Ljubic and Katherine (Drojan) Plesac. She was a member of Christ our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed baking, cooking, watching the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Louise is survived by her two children, Tomette Copp, of Redmond, Washington and Joseph A. (MaryJo) Safarek, Jr. of Struthers, four grandchildren, Thomas (Debbie) Batteiger, Heather (Myron) Sahli, Holly (Phil) Schiffler, Joseph A. (Dana) Safarek, III, and six great-grandchildren, Jack, Paige, Isabella, Rylee, Calee and Annabel.
In addition to her parents Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joseph A. Safarek, Sr. whom she married on February 18, 1950, he died on May 16, 2013, two brothers, John & Frank Plesac, three sisters, Ann Yovich, Mary Turscak Frketich, Katherine Plevniak, and her first husband, Thomas Copp they married in 1946, he died in 1947.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., 258 Poland Avenue in Struthers. On Friday, a funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Christ our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church, celebrated by Fr. Martin Celuch. Burial will follow in the St. John Cemetery.
