John Emery Kopcash passed away on June 10, 2018. He was born on December 25, 1928 in Struthers, son of the late John and Mary (Rivalsky) Kopkash. John graduated from Campbell Memorial High School and after graduating, he served in the Naval Reserves. John married the love of his life, Dorothy Marchetti in Pasadena, California in May of 1949.
John and Dorothy along with their daughter Regina moved to Youngstown where John worked in the dry cleaning industry. After 10 years, the family moved back to Pasadena where he opened a successful auto body and paint shop. When he retired, John and Dorothy moved to La Quinta, California in 1999. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palm Desert, California. He did volunteer work at the La Quinta Library. True to his roots, John loved the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Football.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Regina (Scott) Hansen, grandson Scott (Marie) Hagen, a sister, Francis Gotti and a brother, Timothy (Mary) Kopcash and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy who survived him by 10 days; she passed away on June 20, 2018.
There are no calling hours or services planned in locally. A funeral service was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palm Desert, California for John and Dorothy.
