I knew Don for over 20 years. If there were more people like Don, the world would be a much better place.

I just found out about the passing of "Donny". I was a childhood friend.... lived across the street on Medford. I have not seem Don since early high school, but was really saddened to hear of his death. His picture brought back so many memories. No matter how difficult, or confusing, his personal life was, he always had that same smile on his face! I do not know if you ever heard the story of the big rock in the front yard directly across the street? An old couple, the McIntosh's, lived in that house. They never had their own children. Whenever, Donnie could get his hands on some extra discarded paint, he would quietly paint that rock and then ring the doorbell and show the sweet old lady how beautiful the new color looked. She would praise him up and down, hug him, and thank him profusely for brightening her day. He was so proud to have added a smile to her face! She was so happy to have done the same for him! I'm not talking a couple times, I'm talking about dozens and dozens... and dozens of paint jobs! These are memories I have never forgotten. Memories of a truly sweet young boy who always seem to care more about others than himself.
I am so sorry for your loss. God bless him.

My family and I are so sorry to hear this. You were all such good neighbors, and my father loved spending time fishing with Don and talking about the gardens and food. I wish we lived closer to home so that my family could have experienced how great it was to have lived next door to you.
