CAMPBELL-Andrew A. "Andy" Rauzan Jr. passed away peacefully on New Year’s Eve surrounded by his family, whom he loved so dearly, after a long battle with several illnesses.

The proud son of Andy A. Rauzan Sr. and Eleanor "Alice" Rauzan (Creatore) Andy was born in Jamison Hospital on May 22, 1949-he was their second child. Andy’s older brother is Daniel Andrew Rauzan and Andy’s younger sister is Susan Ann Rauzan- Mootz. Andy was a lifelong proud Campbell resident, having never left his hometown. He resided only on Main Street, where he grew up as a child and where he eventually bought his first home as an adult, and Matawan Avenue, where he would eventually live from 1977 until 2017. Andy attended Sts. Peter & Paul grade school, and Campbell Memorial High School. Andy graduated from Memorial High in 1967 where is he played both Varsity Football (#71) for Coach Sloko Gill as an offensive tackle and Varsity Track as a shot-putter.

After graduation, Andy worked only two permanent jobs during the course of his lifetime-for GM and the City of Campbell. In fact, he was a rare person fortunate enough to have retired from two careers. Andy worked at General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio from 1967 until 1983, and Andy also worked as a full time Campbell Police Officer from 1975 until 1998. He served the Campbell Community proudly and created many positive relationships between the community and Officer "Big Andy" Rauzan. During the years of 1975-1983, Andy would work both full time jobs to support his young family.

Andy married Pamela Marie Tomsick on November 24, 1973 at St. Stephen’s Church on Wilson Avenue, and the happy couple would remain married for the next 44 years. Andy and Pam had two sons, Andrew William Rauzan and Bryan Anthony Rauzan. Both of Andy’s sons loved, admired, and honored their father completely. Andy’s sons would eventually follow in their Father’s footsteps as both boys became police officers-his sons had a great example. Andy loved taking trips with his family and over his lifetime Andy took Pam, Andrew, and Bryan to Disney World; Sarasota, Florida; Graceland-Memphis; Tupelo, Mississippi (Elvis’ birth pace); Niagara Falls; and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Anyone who knew Andy knew he was a larger than life personality and had the ability to leave an impression on almost every person he met. For those who were fortunate enough to personally know Andy, he will be someone that will be missed daily because he was simply irreplaceable. Andy was an expert carpenter, plumber, tiler, electrician, mechanic and all around handyman. Andy was called on a regular basis by family and friends to fix hot water heater or toilets in the middle of the night and he always came through! He never refused to help anyone. Andy single-handedly rebuilt his family-home’s entire kitchen, two bathrooms, and all the homes woodwork to match his consistent commitment to quality and detail. Any project done by Andy, was done to absolute perfection.

Andy was also an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. From his earliest days until 1985 Andy owned a Honda Motorcycle-most notably his black Honda Gold Wing Interstate, which he outfitted with every accessory Honda made at the time. However in 1985, Andy traded-in his Gold Wing for the car that made him locally famous-his 1960 Red Ford Thunderbird. Over the next 30 years, he would pack up his family in the T-Bird and tour northeast Ohio car shows with the car that he personally stripped down to the frame and rebuilt all over again. When Andy was done, his T-bird was showroom quality and everyone that saw it was awe inspired. The awards won by Andy and his T-Bird would be numerous to list and number in the hundreds.

But most of all Andy was "Grandpa Andy" to his five grandchildren-Madalyn Mary Rauzan, Victoria Bernice Rauzan, Andrew Anthony Rauzan, Rudolph William Rauzan, and Eleanor Elaine Rauzan. Andy loved and cherished these 5 grandchildren and each had a special placed in his heart. No person came before Andy’s grandchildren and "Grandpa Andy" will be sadly missed by all of them.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, his paternal Aunt Irene Rauzan, and his paternal Uncle Paul Rauzan. Andy is survived by his wife Pam; his sons Andrew (Emma) and Bryan(Jennifer); his 5 grandchildren; his Brother Daniel; his sister Susan Ann; and his Aunt Helen Rauzan; and nieces Julie Possage, Andrea Rauzan, and Nanessa Nitolli; and a nephew Vince Nitolli.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Kirila Funeral Home, Inc. from 5-8 pm. Services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 where a prayer service will be held at 9:45 am at Kirila Funeral Home,Inc., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery.
