Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday September 15, 2015 at 11:00 am at Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., for Thomas A. Barber, Sr., who passed away at his on home, Friday September 11, 2015. Tom was born March 8, 1933 in Youngstown, Ohio son of the late Thomas E. and Frances (Cordova) Barber. He was a1953 graduate of East High School; and was a member of St. Angela Merici Parish, Sacred Heart Church and worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company and later Valley Drug Company until his retirement in 1995. He served in the US Army in the Third Armored Division during the Korean Conflict.
Tom enjoyed music and sports. He played the Accordion and Organ, playing in many local bands. He loved the Cleveland Indians and Browns and after his retirement he bowled two “300” games at Bell-Wick Bowl. He also coached MABC little league baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Kujweski Kiktavy Barber whom he married September 17, 1953, three children, Thomas and his wife Debbie, James and his wife Billie, Loretta Barber Mesaros, three brothers, Eugene (Mary), Stanley (Darca), Harry (Debbie), a brother -in-law, Mike Kiktavy (Toni Marie), four grandchildren, Michael, Debbie Lynn, James, Jr.,Nicholas and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Donna and his granddaughter, Jamie Lynn.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 am -11:00 am at Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., 258 Poland Avenue in Struthers.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
