Struthers, Peter P. Pontino, 85

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Christ our Savior Parish, St. Nicholas Church for Peter P. Pontino who passed away on December 28, 2017 at his home. Peter was born on October 16, 1932 in Youngstown, son of the late to Ralph and Madeline (Blanche) Pontino. Peter was raised on the East Side and attended East High School. He worked for the Ohio State Liquor Store as a salesperson. He served in The US Army. He was a member at St. Nicholas Church and served as an usher. He was involved with the Fruit Street Club, Pacentrano Club, Arco Club, Itam, enjoyed playing cards and was an avid sports fan, especially baseball.

He will be sadly missed by his sister, Ann M. Pompili of Hubbard and his brother, Joseph (Patty) Pontino also of Hubbard and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Peter was preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew Pontino, James Potina, Anthony Pontino, his sisters, Louise D'Agostino, Angela Marie Sahli, a nephew, Ralph Potina, Jr. and his companion Violet (Vi) Carothers.

During the time he served in the US Army, Peter became roommates and life long friends with Billy Martin, Rocky Marciano and Ron Gaylord Fredinelli and later became good friends with Bobby Carcelli and Jim and Gretchen Corsell.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers. Contributions can be made to St. Jude Hospital and the American Heart Association.
