Welcome to the memorial page for

Margaret Mary "Marge" (Kirlik) Dess

October 13, 1943 ~ February 21, 2015 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Margaret Mary ("Marge") Dess, 71, of
Coitsville, OH, passed peacefully on
February 21 after a year-long illness.
Marge was born October 13, 1943 to the
late John and Margretta (Kotsch) Kirlik in
Youngstown, Ohio. She was a 1961
graduate of Ursuline High School.
On June 15, 1968, she married Bernard
Francis Dess, a kind and loving father and
husband who always supported her.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of
Christ Our Savior Parish (Holy Trinity),
where she had previously worked in the
rectory for over a decade.
Marge, along with her sisters and brothers,
learned the value of hard work growing up
on the family's farm in Coitsville. Save for a
few years working as a secretary in
Washington, D.C., she was a lifelong
Mahoning County resident and was
fortunate to be born, raised, and living on
the same street nearly her entire life.
Marge was a proud domestic engineer that
wore a myriad of hats, and excelled under
every one of them. A warm and generous
soul, she was magnetically attracted to
babies and kids and was known to all
simply as "Aunt Marge". She fed all the
animals that wandered into her rural
property, and enjoyed the constant
company of her pets throughout the years.
Meal time was her specialty, a true master
of flavor, and nobody left the house without
a full stomach and leftovers. Her baking
skills, especially kolachi, were known far
and wide. But her proudest moments in life
were her wedding day and the births of her
sons.
Marge leaves behind her husband,
Bernard, of Coitsville; sons Eric (Laurie
Harris) of Coitsville and Jason (fiancée
Jenn Best) of Hubbard; sisters Suzanne
(Anthony) Martucci of Struthers and
Rosemarie (Ralph) Dickinson of Boardman;
brothers John Kirlik and Chris Kirlik, both of
Coitsville; sister-in-law Janice Kirlik of
Poland; grandson Ethan Best of Hubbard;
special great-niece Sara Dawson; special
great-nephews Max and Joe Roseck; many
other nieces and nephews, including
several great nieces and nephews; and the
most wonderful family, friends and
neighbors that anyone could ever want.
Loved ones that were called before her
include her parents; parents-in-law Bernard
and Marguerite Dess; brothers-in-law David
Dess and Edward Shevitz; sister-in-law
Anita Shevitz; nephew John Kirlik; her
niece's husband, Joseph Roseck; and her
close lifelong friend, Donna Detec.
In keeping with Marge's wishes, the family
requests that attire be very informal and
that everyone would wear your best pair of
jeans if possible.
Any material contributions can be made in
Marge's name to Angels for Animals or any
local pet shelter.
