Coitsville, David A, Ornelas, Sr, 79

David Ascension Ornelas Sr. of Coitsville, Ohio passed peacefully into God’s hands at home surrounded by his family on Saturday 6/3 after a courageous 3 yr. battle with cancer. David was born 9/9/37 in Youngstown, Ohio a son of Ascension and Kathryn (Carrocce) Ornelas.

David is a Navy veteran and a retired Meat Cutter from Sparkle, IGA, and Santisi supermarkets. He enjoyed woodworking and passed on many of his carvings to his family and friends. David was an avid gardener and took a special pride in his garlic harvest. He loved the outdoors and could always be found tending to his property or on his tractor enjoying a cigar.

David is survived by his wife of 58 yrs, Joyce (Furgan) Ornelas whom he affectionately referred to as the "Chief", his 3 children David A. Ornelas, Jr. and wife Tracie, Laura Mate, Lisa Ornelas, nine grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his 4 brothers Ray, Richard, Daniel, and Larry Ornelas.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., 258 Poland Avenue in Struthers. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Joseph Church in Campbell. Family and friends are to meet at church by 9:50 am.
