North Lima, Charles T. Popovich, Sr., 88

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 10:00 am for at Christ our Savior Parish, Holy Trinity Church for  Charles T. Popovich, Sr. who passed away on Sunday July 24, 2016 at Marian Living Center. Mr. Popovich  was born on October 27, 1927 in Struthers, Ohio, son of the late Benjamin and Mary Popovich. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church and worked for Ohio Edison as a District Supervisor for 33 years.

He served in the US Air Force, he was a former officer of the Ohio Edison Credit Union Board of Directors,  he was a Jednota member for 50 years where he served as an officer of branch 259, he was a founding member of the Youngstown Chapter for Lupus. He was an avid golfer, he played golf with the National Lefty Organization, the Jednota League and the Ohio Edison League. He also enjoyed spending time at Mountaineer Race Track. 

He is survived by his children, son, Charles T. Popovich, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, three daughters, Elizabeth Jane (Mike) Szugye of Hubbard, Ohio, Sharon Ferlaino of Florida, Judith (Ken) Perich of Herndon, Virginia,  nine grandchildren, Nikki, Page, Allison Popovich, Regina Perich, Laura (Matt) Fry, Sarah (Dan) Moreno, Michael (Staci) Szugye, Matthew (Heidi) Szugye and Nicholas (Cassie) Szugye and eight grandchildren, Melanie, Jason, Chelsea, and Kyle Szugye, Claire and Caroline Szugye, Charlie Szugye, and  Madelyn Moreno.In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Fabry) Popovich whom he married August 4, 1951, she died June 12, 1983, two brothers, Paul and Frank, his sister, Helen and his son-in-law, Anthony Ferlaino. 

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from  9:00 am - 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lowellville.
