Our Beginnings
Michael J. Kirila,Sr. founder of Kirila Funeral Home Inc. at 258 Poland Ave, in Struthers Ohio, started his business in 1952 after moving to Youngstown from Mercer, PA. Mr. Kirila was a 1947 graduate of the Renouard Training School for Embalmers in New York City, a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, and a member of the International Order of the Golden Rule. In the fall of 1948 he graduated from the Cleveland College of Mortuary Science. He also owned and operated an Ambulance Service from 1952 to 1982. Mr. Kirila, Sr. passed away on April 6, 1989.
